Botulinum toxin, usually known by the brand name Botox, is a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscles can’t contract. As a result, Botox is usually injected into facial muscles to relax wrinkles, especially forehead lines and crow’s feet, and make them appear softer.
